Our Christmas Day was filled to the brim with family, the best food and good times.   I’m continually amazed by how fortunate are.  I’d like to think that we do not take it for granted.  The littlest was not feeling well this week, but I was comforted by the fact that we had pain relief medicine and an inhaler in the cupboard, and if she got worse, we could zip her up to the walk-in clinic or better yet – the emergency room within minutes – without going into debt.  She’s almost back to normal today – went tobogganing with her new-to-her 6-ft wooden toboggan.  It was a little rough on the bottom, so I conjured up a wood polish out of beeswax and olive oil that would make Ma Ingalls proud.   Picture me taking an effortless bow.

Now we are safely ensconced in our little house with piles of books, turkey soup, hot tea, leftover Christmas cookies and sweets, wool blankets, fluffed up pillows, a sleepy cat, laptops, pajamas and knitting.  It’s going to be the best stay-cation.   I intend to savour every moment.  We’ve already heroically watched the first three Lord of the Rings movies – that’s 10.5 hours of battles and fantasy not for the faint of heart.  There were lots of intermissions to catch some air, empty bladders and top up popcorn.  That can now be crossed off my to-do list.

Love that hat. 🙂 We are heading to my parents tomorrow for MORE Christmas. I’m ready for it to be done…but it’s been nice to spread it out, that’s for sure. Sounds like your time at home is blissfully wonderful…and yes, we are so fortunate. Love to you, sweet friend. xo
