So I didn’t get the nomination to run for federal office.  Trust me when I say that THAT was an amazing journey.  All the same, I have welcomed back my sweet quiet normal life with open arms.  Politicking is exhausting – I’m a friendly person, but campaigning takes friendliness to a whole ‘nother level. I was really conscious of my resting face – to the point that it was all I thought about.  Next time I run, I will win for sure.  I just need some time to sow the seeds of Project ELECT Nadine.

I’m pretty sure this was a game changer.  Running for office isn’t the only way to influence policy and impact system change, so  I am looking forward to getting more involved with my party’s local riding association.  There’s so much to do.  First things first – we need to defeat the Conservatives.  My sincerest apologies to all of the Conservatives out there – you’re just not doing anything for me or my family.   Shrug.

So what else is new?  I have joined the Swiss Chard Fan Club.  I love the stuff.  I love talking about it.  I love eating it.  I love it old and limpy.  I love it fresh and crisp.   I love pictures of it.  I love looking for it.   Last week I called home to see what was for dinner, and Josh said that he had made a stir fry.  I nearly lost it thinking he might have used my swiss chard.  He didn’t touch it which was good-  for his sake.  Swiss chard for life.

I’ve got some new-to-me songs on repeat:

We’re now halfway through March Break – I have been hiking, catching up with friends, canvassing, cleaning the house, knitting socks, and seaming a sweater.   Life is just right.
