There’s something about randomly baking a cake that makes a nine-year old insanely happy.  It doesn’t have to be pretty.  It just needs to be vanilla batter and vanilla icing.   She spent a glorious twenty minutes icing the cooled cake and placing the chocolate chips on just so.   Next up: mastering macarons.
